The Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 is dedicated to the performance enthusiast. However, the Ventus V12 Evo2 is a summer tire for ultra-high performance driving. Unlike the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2, this tire is at its best when the roads are dry.

However, Hankook managed to infuse the DNA of an all-season tire in the Ventus V12 Evo2, but not by much. What’s hard to ignore is the aggressive directional tread design. There’s no mistaking this for a touring tire, that’s for sure! If you have a high-powered sports car or sports sedan, check out the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 when summer arrives.

In this review, you’ll find out the merits and demerits of the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2. Because when it comes to sports cars or high-performance vehicles, the quality of the tire is a crucial part of the equation. This tire is one of the best summer tires that won’t break the bank.

What are the features of the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2?

In order to deliver higher levels of grip on wet roads, Hankook gave the Ventus V12 Evo2 special lateral grooves with aqua channels. These channels are computer-designed and optimized to channel water away from the center of the tire and dispersed immediately in the groove wall. The circumferential grooves are also equipped with a cooling system to improve heat radiation during those intense high-speed runs.

The inner treads also benefit from Hankook’s unique Stealth Technology. See those wing-tipped slanted edges on the inner tire blocks? The slanted surface is designed to reduce impact and road noise while always maintaining a flat contact patch with the surface. This enables the tire to deliver higher amounts of traction and grip in the most demanding and aggressive driving scenario.

The Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 is manufactured using a hi-tech rubber compound. Hankook further optimized the chemical combination of the silica-enriched compound with styrene polymer. The result is a tire that grips the road with tenacity for better handling and faster cornering.

How is this tire different from the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2?

Both are ultra-high performance tires designed for fast driving. However, the Ventus S1 Noble2 is an all-season tire designed for year-round comfort. On the other hand, the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 is a summer tire for high-performance driving. It prioritizes wet and dry grip over comfort and refinement, whereas the Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 offers sporty levels of grip with higher doses of comfort.

Choosing between the two tires is not easy, but it depends on the type of vehicle you have. For example, if you have a fast sedan for a daily driver, it will benefit more from the Ventus S1 Noble 2, especially when cold weather creeps in. If your other car is a tuned Subaru Impreza or Honda S2000, it will perform better at the limit with a set of Ventus V12 Evo2 when the weather gets hot.

The tires of today are different from those of ten or fifteen years ago. Hybrid tires are now the default choice for both modern and older cars, most especially if you drive in changing weather conditions. And while the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 is still able to offer acceptable levels of refinement, it is created mainly for spirited driving.

Is it comfortable and refined?

The comfort levels and refinement of the Hankook VentusV12 Evo2 are average at best, but don’t get me wrong here. Comfort and NVH are relative to the type of vehicle. I don’t mind sacrificing comfort for a bit more sportiness, but what I can’t stand is tire roar. The Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 is not the noisiest performance summer tire you can buy, but it buzzes with authority as you speed towards an empty highway. The noise is significantly lower at average cruising speeds.

How about tire wear?

Hankook pulled all the stops to improve the wear characteristics of the Ventus V12 Evo2. However, tire wear is directly related to how you drive the vehicle. If you always drive your vehicle like you stole it, this tire will wear faster than a normal set of touring tires. The same goes for fuel economy. The high-rolling resistance nature of the rubber compound means this tire is not designed for economical driving.
