Pirelli is among the biggest tire manufacturers in the world. The Cinturato P7 is Pirelli’s first-ever ‘green performance’ tire if that makes sense. This is basically a summer touring tire produced from lesser raw materials. It is also engineered with a 15% further reduction in rolling resistance for larger gas savings.

When you think about it, the concept of a green tire is not far-fetched. Pirelli utilized the latest materials and tread pattern design to come up with the Pirelli Cinturato P7. This tire is ideal for sporty compacts, fast sedans, and sports coupes.

But there are certain limits to what this tire can do. And since the Pirelli Cinturato P7 is a summer tire, it’s not primarily intended for all-season driving – particularly in cold and snowy weather. This review will look into the features of the Pirelli Cinturato P7 and what it can do for your vehicle.

What is a green tire?

Almost everything is going green. From green cars to green tires and even organic food, the word ‘green’ has a positive connotation. But Pirelli is not just after the prestige of going green. The Cinturato P7 is designed and manufactured to handle the rudiments of performance driving with utmost respect to the environment. This tire has fewer emissions and is constructed using 6% less raw materials.

But that’s not all. Pirelli utilized a special silica-based compound to maximize wear while improving traction and grip. This also lowers the rolling resistance of the tire for maximum fuel economy. All of these features contribute to the environmentally-friendly nature of the Pirelli Cinturato P7.

How does it perform in dry and wet roads?

The Pirelli Cinturato P7 is a summer tire. With that being said, you can expect premium levels of traction and grip in the dry. The tire feels sportier than an ordinary touring tire and can improve the handling and stability of your ride. One of the biggest strengths of Pirelli tires is the braking power, and you can feel this in both wet and dry roads. You can basically enter a corner at a higher speed while still maintaining perfect balance and control, but only if you’re smooth with the steering and throttle inputs.

But there’s a kink in the armor: high-speed handling. The Pirelli Cinturato P7 is good for fast driving, but it’s not enough if you demand higher levels of traction in high-speed driving. This holds true if you have a fast sports sedan equipped with a powerful turbocharged or V8 motor. But this not the tire’s fault, either. Pirelli has the P Zero and P Zero Corsa for racing and high-performance applications. And besides, you can’t expect a touring tire to handle the rudiments of sporty driving, but it’s good to know the Cinturato P7 is better than average in this regard.

It’s also a smooth and capable performer in wet roads. However, it’s not equipped to handle snow, ice, or extended cold weather driving.

What are the features of the Pirelli Cinturato P7?

Pirelli utilized a unique blend of silica and special polymers to maximize the rolling resistance in the Cinturato P7, and they did it without penalizing traction and grip. The tire comes with an asymmetric tread design and a five-rib tread pattern to optimize the contact patch of the rubber. It even comes with wider shoulder blocks and compact central blocks to offer faster cornering, precise steering, and better overall stability.

The Pirelli Cinturato P7 is equipped with multiple siping around the treads. This provides the necessary biting edges to offer a stronger grip in wet roads. The tire also benefits from an optimized tread design that reduces tire roar and road noise, which is important for a touring tire.

The Pirelli Cinturato P7 is a run-flat tire. Seal Inside puncture technology allows you to continue driving without losing air pressure if the tire is punctured. This gives additional peace of mind on those long road trips. Thankfully, you can enjoy the quiet comfort of the Cinturato P7 thanks to Pirelli’s PNCS noise-canceling system. It is basically a sound-absorbing device applied in the circumferential wall of the tire. The result is superior comfort even at higher speeds.

Is it quiet and comfortable?

Pirelli tires are not cheap. However, you get what you pay for. The Pirelli Cinturato P7 is among the quietest and most comfortable summer tires in the category. Other tires are silent at low speeds but will howl at higher speeds, but not the Pirelli Cinturato P7! The tire maker utilized all the tricks in the book to produce a tire that rolls silently even when faced with rougher patches of tarmac. If you have a sport-luxury sedan, you’ll appreciate the overall refinement of the Cinturato P7.

Should I buy the Pirelli Cinturato P7?

Truth be told, there are more affordable choices out there. However, if you take into account the features of the Pirelli Cinturato P7, you ultimately get what you pay for. This is one of the best summer tires that also deliver superb comfort and longer wear. It’s not designed to handle snowy roads but it performs admirably in the wet.

It does this while still providing relentless traction and grip in dry and wet roads. As an added plus, it even comes with a bolder asymmetric tread design to improve the styling of your ride. You are also doing the environment a huge favor, and you have the Pirelli name to back it up! Those reasons are enough to consider the Pirelli Cinturato P7 for your next set of tires.

The Cinturato P7 may not have the extreme grip levels of an ultra-high performance tire, but it remains a good choice for spirited driving.
