  • Great handling, all-weather and all-terrain traction
  • Comfortable, quiet, and refined
  • Longer wear

  • Higher price

You may know the Pirelli Scorpion Verde as a summer tire, and you’re right. But there’s another Scorpion Verde in Pirelli’s lineup. The appropriately-named All Season Plus is the Scorpio Verde for all-season driving. It remains a good choice for small crossovers, SUVs, and large sport sedans and sports coupes due to the advanced eco-friendly construction with true all-weather capabilities.

The Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus is properly classified as a touring tire. This means higher levels of comfort, refinement, and fuel-economy, which is what you want in a touring tire. But despite the eco-friendly construction, the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus is rated M+S, which means advanced performance in mud and snow.

With all these attributes, what more can you ask for an all-season touring tire? In this review, we’ll find out if the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus lives up to the hype of being one of the best all-season rubber for crossovers and SUVs.

What are the features of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus?

The Scorpion Verde is Pirelli’s green performance crossover & SUV tire. It is manufactured using a low-rolling resistance silica-enhanced compound for lower CO2 emissions and better fuel economy. The asymmetric tread design features four wide circumferential grooves and an optimized rubber-to-void ratio to deliver a uniform contact patch with the road.

This all translates to better handling, cornering, and enhanced straight-line abilities. But the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus is also refined to a fault, which is not surprising for a touring tire. It benefits from an optimized pitch sequence that cancels interior noise for a quieter ride. The shoulder and tread blocks are festooned with high lateral sipes and longitudinal siping to offer relentless grip in wet, slippery, and snowy roads.

As if all those features are not enough, the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus is equipped with PNCS, which is short for Pirelli Noise Cancelling Technology. What this means is Pirelli was kind enough to install a sound absorbing device inside the circumferential wall of the tire. This translates to a smoother and more comfortable ride.

Is this tire great for snow and cold-weather driving?

It’s not only good over snow, slush, and ice, but the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus can also handle mild off-roading with nary a complaint. Want proof? The Scorpion Verde has an M+S marking on the sidewall which speaks highly to the off-road abilities and extreme-weather capabilities of this tire.

But then again, this tire is not exactly designed for extreme all-terrain driving or deep snow. But it’s good to know it performs quietly and comfortably in the highway while remaining capable enough to handle dirt roads and light trails. But if your SUV or crossover is a dedicated off-road machine, you are better off with a set of all-terrain A/T rubber.

How does it perform in dry roads?

The Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus performs flawlessly in the dry. However, this is not a sporty tire to begin with, so don’t expect racing-levels of grip and traction. Braking also remains strong as the tire grips the tarmac like a lizard on the wall.

What I like about the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus is the steering response and handling. It feels like a sportier set of tires at higher speeds. This is no easy feat considering the touring attributes.

How about on wet roads?

With four circumferential grooves and a bevy of siping, the Scorpion Verde A/S Plus feels like a winner in the wet. This tire has the ability to maintain traction even under extremely wet driving conditions. This is where the All Season Plus version has an edge over the Scorpion Verde summer tire. In terms of grip, the summer tire delivers more, but only in the dry. When it comes to wet, slippery, or snowy roads, the All Season Plus will run circles over the summer tire every time.

How about comfort and road noise?

And while the brilliant all-season capabilities of the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus is what makes it great, the advanced levels of comfort and refinement is what makes it desirable as a daily driver. Few tires can offer the comfort and low noise attributes of the Pirelli, and it can do it day-in and day-out in inclement weather.

Credit goes to PNCS for giving this tire a remarkably comfortable ride. The tire absorbs humps, bumps, and noises created when driving over rough patches of concrete and tarmac. You can expect a smooth, steady, and silent ride with the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus.

How about tire wear and fuel economy?

The Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S Plus is manufactured using a low rolling resistance compound to ensure maximum wear life and fuel economy. With all things being equal, touring tires are known to last longer than all-season tires, and the same can be said for the Scorpion Verde A/S Plus.

Should I buy the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus?

Without a doubt, the Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S Plus is one of the best all-weather tires for small crossovers and SUVs. But it comes at a price. It’s a bit more costly than other touring tires, but you do get a ton of features and benefits compared to cheaper tires.

Best of all, this tire is available in a wide range of sizes from 15” to 22” diameters. It is also available in run-flat configuration for certain sizes and diameters. It’s safe to say there are cheaper options for an all-season touring tire, but very few comes close to the all-weather attributes and refinement of Pirelli’s Scorpion Verde. If comfort, refinement, sporty all-season traction, and cold weather performance are your priorities in a new set of SUV tires, take a closer look at the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus.

  1. Really great tire. The ride is very quiet and smooth. Cornering is better than my previous tire. I’ve been using these for about 3 months now, can’t complain about the grip, I’m in California and mainly dry pavement

  2. Thought long and hard before purchasing the Verde all-season +. Read many reviews, mostly all good, and took the plunge. Much to my surprise, my local Sam’s Club had 4 remaining in my size at a ridiculously low price of $80 each! I hope that they live up to the hype… only time will tell.

  3. This is a great tire, had no complaints with the first set so now i’m running the second set of Scorpion Verde. The first was put through the ringer in West Texas with 112degree heat and then snowfall in winter never any problems.
