If you want luxury, all-season performance with outstanding grip and stability, the Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season is the tire for you.

The Pirelli Scorpion Strada is a different breed of all-season tire. It is classified as a performance-touring tire with mild off-road capabilities. This makes it an excellent and solid choice for sporty crossovers and larger SUVs. When was the last time a touring tire came with a sprinkling of DNA from an all-terrain tire?

And if you were expecting a large and bulbous tire with aggressive tread designs, the Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season is the exact opposite. It definitely looks like a sporty touring tire as it comes with a stylish asymmetric tread design. So how does this tire manage to offer enhanced grip over loose and slippery surfaces? It all boils down to technology.

In this review of the Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season, you’ll find out if the premium price justifies the merits of this tire. Pirelli tires are not exactly cheap, but they more than make up for it in terms of performance and durability.

What are the features of the Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season?

The Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season is optimized to deliver all-season performance with outstanding grip and stability. It’s a hardcore touring tire with the performance merits of a summer tire. It also inherited the Scorpion DNA by offering enhanced off-road performance in light trailing.

The grip levels of the tire are attributed to the high silica all-season compound and multiple lateral siping. This enables the tire to roll confidently over dry, wet, snowy, muddy, or icy roads without a hitch. The tire also benefits from a taller tread depth at 11.5/32” to offer longer mileage. The silica-enhanced compound is formulated to improve tread life without sacrificing all-season traction.

The Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season is equipped with reinforced shoulders and four longitudinal grooves. This enables the tire to offer increased lateral stability and water dissipation. All of this leads to better stability, secure handling, and a stable ride in any kind of weather condition.

But touring tires should also be quiet and comfortable, and this is where the Scorpion Strada A/S shines the most. The asymmetric tread is designed using an optimized pitch sequence. The goal is to improve fuel economy by lowering the rolling resistance of the rubber while also reducing cabin noise and tire roar.

Any downsides to this tire?

Only one: the price. It is easy to spend upwards of $750 on a set of Pirelli Scorpion Strada tires. But like I previously mentioned, you get a ton of features with the price. You also get a 65,000-mile warranty for each tire for added peace of mind.

How does it behave in the dry?

The great thing about the Pirelli Scorpion Strada A/S is the sporty levels of traction and grip on both dry and wet roads. In fact, it feels like the vehicle is equipped with ultra-high performance rubber as I sped on the highway. The steering felt planted and secure as the tires obeyed my rather awkward steering inputs. You don’t drive an SUV like a sporty car. But with these tires, maybe you can.

How about wet performance?

The sporting attributes of the Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season are very much evident in the wet as well. The tires are able to resist hydroplaning without upsetting the composure and balance of the vehicle. The braking remained strong even over slippery wet roads. The tiller remained accurate and obedient to my steering inputs as I increased my speed on a wet highway.

Is this tire good for snow and off-roading?

Yes, but only for light or medium applications. The Pirelli Scorpion Strada A/S is designed for performance touring applications, but it can hold its own when the roads turn to loose dirt, grass, or loose gravel. The optimized lateral siping also ensures superior traction in light snow and ice.

But the thing to remember here is ‘light or medium applications’. This tire is not equipped to handle thick mud and deep snow. It is good for mild off-roading but not ideal for rock crawling or tackling extreme off-road terrain with sharp rocks and large boulders. If that’s the tire you want, you are barking at the wrong tree.

But if your SUV is a city dweller that occasionally visits the beach or nearby park trail, the Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season is one of the best choices out there.

Is it comfortable and quiet?

Absolutely! The NVH characteristics of this tire are highly admirable. It remains one of the most comfortable touring tires money can buy. It’s also one of the quietest, but only to a certain degree. The tires are muffled at slow to medium speeds. Road noise creeps up once you hit highway speeds, but it’s not loud enough to merit concern. But it’s there, and you have to accept that.

How about tire wear?

If longer wear is a concern, you can place your bets on the Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season. In fact, Pirelli is offering the Scorpion Strada with a 65,000-mile warranty, which is a nice thing to have in a premium touring tire. If you’re still not convinced, the high silica compound and deeper treads will ensure higher mileage over an ordinary set of touring rubber.

Should I buy the Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season?

It depends on what you need in a new set of SUV tires. As I said, you’ll be overwhelmed with the price of these tires if you have a smaller budget. You can find cheaper SUV touring tires from other brands, but only a few offer an impressive 65,000-mile treadwear warranty. As with all Pirelli tires, you are paying for performance and quality.

But if your SUV deserves nothing less than a set of sporty, rugged, and refined touring tires, you can’t go wrong with the Pirelli Scorpion Strada All Season. Keep this tire in your shortlist when shopping for the best SUV tires.
