Looking to improve the highway comfort and refinement in your pickup truck or SUV? Start with the tires. If your priority is better comfort and a smoother highway ride, you should only look into a proper set of H/T tires.

Highway-terrain tires are designed for all-season driving on smooth roads. These tires also come standard in most new SUVs and pickup trucks. And while most truck owners are looking for an upgrade to all-terrain tires in improving the styling and go-anywhere capabilities of their ride, this is a waste of money if you do a lot of highway driving.

The most economical choice for street-based SUVs and pickup trucks are highway terrain tires. The Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 is one of the best choices because it offers all the benefits of a highway terrain tire without the drawbacks.

Is it true the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 is one of the most refined in the H/T category?

Yes. But it’s not the driving comfort that makes the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 one of the best H/T tires in the business. It will have to be the advanced traction and grip in all-season driving, but we’ll get to that later.

In truth, this tire is able to deliver the grip levels of a high-performance rubber. That’s high praise given the touring capabilities of the Dynapro HT RH12. But when it comes to refinement, very few truck tires can come close to the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12. It remains comfortable whether driving fast or slow. It does it without giving up traction and handling. It is giving other truck tires a run for the money, considering the Hankook is also offered at an affordable price.

If you don’t like the bouncy or stiff ride offered by all-terrain or A/T tires, or if your truck is mostly driven on smoothly paved roads, the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 is right for the picking.

Is it capable in mild off-road driving?

When you say mild, do you actually mean it? If what you mean is driving to a sandy beach or over moderate patches of loose or grassy terrain, then yes. In this regard, the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 is more than capable.

But when the road gets rougher still, the tires will start having problems. Don’t look for H/T tires if your truck is a normal or permanent fixture at the construction site. You’ll be foolish to expect H/T tires to survive in mild to moderate off-road driving conditions.

But is it any good in the snow?

Not so much. However, the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 can handle light snow. It is also good if the roads are covered in icy slush or light mud, but things will be different if the pavement is covered with inches of snow.

If you are planning to drive your truck in a snow storm, it is better to fit a more rugged set of A/T tires at the very least. For extreme off-road driving, only M/T or mud tires are fit for the job.

But like I said, if your vehicle’s natural habitat is rolling over paved city streets and smooth highways, no A/T or mud tire can match the comfort, refinement, quietness, and longevity of the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12.

How does it perform in all-season driving?

Like I said earlier, the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 offers advanced traction and grip in all-season driving. It has the traction levels of a performance tire with the mileage of a touring tire. This tire is capable of sporty handling without compromising ride comfort. It is also a solid performer in the wet. Even when driven on slippery roads or heavy rain, the tires can maintain consistent traction without much fuss or drama.

Also impressive is the sportier handling. You wouldn’t expect the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 to behave like a high-performance tire at higher speed, but it can deliver a spirited driving experience as well. Wet or dry, the tire grips the road with tenacity.

What are the features of the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12?

The Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 benefits from the pure DNA of a touring-based tire. It is equipped with a computer-generated symmetric tread design. The tire is also equipped with stable shoulders with lateral notches to improve stability in all-season driving.

There are intermediate tread blocks with an interlocking geometry feature. This enables the tire to generate higher degrees of traction and grip in rain or snow. The interlocking tread blocks are also responsible for improving the stability of the tire in high speed driving. This also results in better handling and tighter cornering.

The Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 also comes with a high-stiffness center rib. This not only improves handling and steering feel. It also improves stability in all-weather driving. When the roads get wet, there are four circumferential grooves that effectively displaces water. It helps the tire to maintain a flat and consistent patch with the pavement even in the presence of water puddles or slush.

The tire is also gifted with unique zigzag sipes. You will these in the entire tread surface. The sipes are like teeth. The add bite as the tire rolls over slippery or uneven pavement. It also enables the tire to survive in light winter driving.

How about tread wear?

Highway tires are similar to touring tires when it comes to tire wear. You can expect the Hankook Dynapro HT RH12 to give many miles of driving bliss. Hankook is offering this tire with a 70,000-mile treadlife warranty for P-metric models and a 40,000-mile warranty on LT tires.

  1. Love my Hankook tires. Great price!!! This is the first time that I bought the same tire twice in a row. I will buy again if this exact model is still in production by the time these wear out.
