Does this sound too good to be true? Hardly. In order for tires nowadays to succeed, the rubber should have multifaceted capabilities. Long gone are the days when tires are just a one-trick pony. This how the Kumho Solus TA11 manages to excel.

It may be a bit more costly than the norm, but as with all products that demand more money upfront, you get what you pay for in the Kumho Solus TA11. Don’t let the plebian asymmetric tread design fool you. It may look simple, but this tire offers better wet and dry performance than other performance tires equipped with aggressive tread designs.

What are the features of the Kumho Solus TA11?

The Kumho Solus TA11 is constructed from a dual-silicone tire compound. It is formulated to dissipate heat faster than other silica-based rubber. This means better fuel economy, longer tire wear, and excellent grip in dry, wet, or snowy roads. 

The tire also benefits from Kumho’s patented Escot casing that offers solid durability with excellent shock-absorbing capabilities. The Escot casing is also responsible for the enhanced comfort of the tires.

The asymmetric tread design is complimented by a rounded shoulder to improve the steering, handling, and stability of your vehicle. This tire also increases the contact patch by a marginal amount for better high-speed traction and grip. The treads also come with numerous waffle sipes to effectively grip or bite over snow and wet roads. If you live in places with harsh winters, only snow tires or all-season tires will be able to find grip over deep layers of icy snow.

Is it comfortable and refined?

Oh yes! The Kumho Solus TA11 has the DNA of a touring tire. It offers superior comfort on the highway and it’s not bad in city driving either. The unique Escot casing of the tire acts like a flexible shock absorber. This enables the tires to confidently roll over potholes and major road undulations without upsetting the occupants in the cabin. In terms of ride comfort, the Kumho Solus TA11 is one of the best considering the budget-friendly price.

And it’s not only comfortable. It is also quieter than a cheaper set of all-season rubber. The tire can roll silently at low to average speeds. But if you really push it, the road noise will increase as you reach higher speeds.

Is it an economical choice?

Remember when I said the Kumho Solus TA11 has the wonderful merits of a touring tire? In terms of wear, this tire is actually better than a proper set of touring rubber. Proof of this is the standard 75,000-mile mileage warranty. Not all tires can deliver impressive all-weather traction while still having lower wear characteristics. Should I buy the Kumho Solus TA11?

Yes, definitely. The price alone should merit attention, but the Kumho Solus TA11 can offer more than just being a budget-friendly alternative. It is capable of offering massive traction and grip on wet, snowy, or dry roads. It is comfortable in both city and highway diving. It is relatively quiet and can even last longer than the competition. It even has a cool sidewall design to add a sporty vibe in your car or minivan.

My only gripe with this tire is high-speed handling and performance. In straight-line driving, the Kumho Solus TA11 is a revelation. But if you have a fast car that demands higher grip levels, you should look more into purchasing a set of ultra-high performance all-season rubber. The same goes if sharper handling and faster cornering is your priority in a new set of tires.
