In this review, the spotlight is focused on the Kumho Crugen HT51. This tire is Kumho’s answer to truck and SUV owners who are looking for a more durable set of tires with excellent comfort and mileage. This is also a perfect replacement for the OEM tires in your pickup truck or sport utility vehicle.
The Kumho Crugen HT51 is engineered to excel in both standard and workload applications. It is sold in 15” to 20” diameters to fit any type of import or domestic vehicle. It is also equipped to handle all-season driving chores while still remaining tough and durable for mild off-road and heavy-duty applications.
The most fascinating thing about the Kumho Crugen HT51 is the sidewall design. Kumho says it communicates contemporary emotion with modern design elements, but I say it simply looks cool. This tire is not hiding any of the rugged DNA, but the conservative symmetrical tread design evokes a sense of refinement as well.

What vehicles will fit the Kumho Crugen HT51?
With the quick Kumho Crugen HT51 review above, the Kumho Crugen HT51 is an excellent choice for the Toyota Tundra, Nissan Armada, Nissan Frontier, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, Dodge Ram, Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, and the Ford Explorer. This tire is also great for the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Renegade.
What are the features of the Kumho Crugen HT51?

The Kumho Crugen HT51 offers all-weather traction courtesy of the symmetrical four channel layout. This design allows water, mud, snow, and slush to evacuate quickly from the contact patch to consistently maintain traction and grip. The tire also comes with a stiffer center block design to enhance vehicle stability and all-season handling. This feature also improves steering accuracy for better straight-line performance.
The Kumho Crugen HT51 also comes with a zigzag-style groove design with specially-designed 3D sipes. Both features are designed to enhance wet driving performance while further improving traction and stability on snowy roads.
The tire is constructed utilizing Kumho’s unique all-season tread compound. This enables the tire to maintain consistent levels of grip in both hot and cold weather without penalizing ride comfort and treadwear.
Is the tire good for off-road driving?
Here’s another good thing about the Kumho Crugen HT51: it is actually a cross between a highway-terrain and all-terrain tire. In fact, it offers impressive performance in mild off-road driving. This tire is far from being a hardcore all-terrain tire, but it can motivate your truck or SUV when faced with loose gravel, sand, and dirt roads.
How about dry performance?
The Kumho Crugen HT51 is not the tire to buy if you have a sporty truck or SUV. This also holds true if you’re expecting an SUV to have the handling prowess of a sedan. But if this is not a concern, the Kumho Crugen HT51 is more than adequate on dry pavement. It excels in straight-line highway driving rather than advanced cornering or handling. If the normal routine is many miles of driving while carrying tools, sports equipment, construction supplies, or heavy loads, this tire is the perfect choice.
Is the Kumho Crugen HT51 good for wet roads?
This tire is equipped to handle wet roads quite well. Credit goes to the zigzag circumferential grooves that prevents the tire from aquaplaning or hydroplaning. The geometric block layout of the treads are also responsible for offering relentless grip in adverse driving conditions.
Can it handle snow?

Oh yes. The Kumho Crugen HT51 is an excellent performer in winter driving. And unlike other all-season SUV tires, the Crugen HT51 is good for mild to moderate snow. Of course, if you’re planning to conquer roads with heavy snow, it is better to equip your vehicle with a set of all-terrain tires.
How about comfort levels and refinement?
The Kumho Crugen HT51 has a surprising set of attributes. It may look like a rugged tire that can handle moderate off-road driving, but it can roll comfortably and silently like a set of touring tires. In fact, this tire is top notch in terms of comfort. It is at its best on the open highway, but city driving is not too bad either. This tire can make potholes feel like a thing of the past as it confidently glides over potholes and rougher patches of concrete.
As if being comfortable is not enough, it just so happens the Kumho Crugen HT51 is a silent performer as well. And unlike other tires that will turn noisier as the speed rises, this tire will remain quiet even at higher than average speeds. It is also quiet in the city which makes it excellent for everyday urban driving.
Is it economical?
Not only is the Kumho Crugen HT51 surprisingly comfortable and refined. It can also last longer than other SUV tires. Kumho is offering the Crugen HT51 with a 45,000 to 70,000-mile limited treadwear warranty, which is a solid indication of the wear characteristics of the tire. This is where the touring DNA of the tires will kick in high gear. It may not offer stronger grip to deliver sporty handling, but the stiff block design and low-rolling resistance tire compound enables the tire to last the distance.
Sounds good, right? But wait until you hear the best part. The Kumho Crugen HT51 also comes with a budget-friendly price. Prices will start at around $115 each for the smallest size while you can expect to pay more for bigger sizes.

Should I buy the Kumho Crugen HT51?
The answer is a resounding yes! If your work truck demands a sturdy, dependable, and comfortable set of rubber, the Kumho Crugen HT51 comes highly recommended.
On the other hand, if you have an SUV that requires a set of tires to have excellent mileage, impressive all-season traction, and mild off-road capabilities, this tire is a sterling choice considering the relatively affordable price.

The Crugen HT51 delivers a stable ride even with heavy loads which I really like about this tire. It has a sufficient grip on corners. But it meets problems on rough roads. The road feedback is high when I hit bumps and potholes, and it takes a while to go back to fine handling.
