Do you drive a luxury touring car for the entire year? Need a tire that will unleash the potential of your driving machine? The Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum is worthy of a second look. This tire remains a solid contended in the ultra-high performance category. It delivers all-season traction and grip while still remaining good enough over mild snow.

But the grip and all-weather performance are not the best attributes of the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum. It also delivers tons of comfort and road silence along with longer wear. Does this sound like the attributes of a touring tire? Kumho managed to make a tire that offers relentless all-weather grip while still remaining comfortable enough to improve the noise, vibration, and harshness of your ride.

What are the features of the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum?

The Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum is equipped with an asymmetric tread design. The treads are optimized to deliver brilliant all-season performance and a smooth and quiet ride. The tire is also equipped with four circumferential grooves to evacuate water from the face of the tread. This enables the tire to maintain consistent traction in wet and slippery pavement.

The tire is constructed using a jointless nylon cap to lessen harmonic vibrations as the tire rolls over the road. It even comes with stress relief dimples on the end of the sipes for uncompromising traction over snow or ice.

In order to improve the styling of the tire, Kumho saw it fit to equip the Ecsta LX Platinum with a sophisticated sidewall design. Again, the looks and styling of a tire is not exactly the most important thing to look out for, but it’s nice to know the Ecsta LX Platinum looks good enough to give your car an exhilarating vibe.

Kumho Ecsta Lx Platinum Review

How does it perform in the dry?

In this the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum review, we see that the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum lives up to its ultra-high performance moniker on dry roads. The tire can deliver relentless grip with solid handling and accurate steering feel. You will only find the grip lacking if you use this tire on the track. Of course, it is foolish to expect an all-season tire to hack it inside a race track, but there are limits to the adhesion of this tire if equipped to a vehicle that produces higher amounts of horsepower and torque.

But then again, it is hard to breach those limits if you drive on normal roads, even if you drive a bit more aggressively. And besides, this tire is not exactly a hardcore performance tire in the truest sense of the word. It can maintain good stability at speed but it excels in providing comfort, road silence, and longer wear.

Is it good in the snow?

The Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum is only good for light snow. Anything that resembles deep or moderate snow will demand the cold weather abilities of winter or snow tires. However, it can continue providing the desired levels of traction in slippery roads. But if the pavement is festooned in more than two inches of snow, the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum may have a hard time to maintain consistent traction.

What vehicles are applicable to the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum?

The Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum is a solid and safe choice for sporting sedans such as the Nissan MaximaHonda Accord, Toyota Camry, Infiniti G35 and M35, Cadillac CTS-V, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class, and S-Class, BMW 3-Series and 5-Series, Lexus Is and GS, Audi A4 and A6, Acura RL, and even the Lincoln Town Car.

This tire is sold in an array of sizes and specs to fit the needs of both import and domestic vehicles. Whenever you need a tire that delivers sporting performance and luxurious refinement, the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum should be on top of your list.

How is the wet performance?

The Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum is better than expected in the wet. Kumho designed the treads well enough to prevent the tire from losing traction on a slick and wet highway. The braking remains strong and the steering provides ample feedback even if you’re driving fast in the rain. The waffle-design sipes are meant to fully interlock and consistently maintains traction on the wettest of roads. This is a true all-season tire to the core.

Is it comfortable and quiet?

Yes! It is hard to fault the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum in terms of road comfort. Where some tires have a tendency to vibrate at triple-digit speeds, the jointless nylon cap construction of the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum ensures a smoother and more comfortable driving experience, even if you have a habit of pushing your vehicle to the limit!

Road silence is also one of the best attributes of this tire. In fact, I have tried cheaper touring tires that are not as quiet as the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum. This is high praise given the tire is meant to be a performance tire first rather than being a proper touring tire.

Is the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum worth the money?

This will be a good question to ask if the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum is known for having a higher price tag. Fortunately for you, this tire is an excellent budget alternative to other expensive tire brands. It is hard to find a better set of tires for the price, especially given the amount of features and all-weather traction this tire can deliver.

It is rare for a performance tire to offer longer wear and superior riding comfort without sacrificing all-season performance. If your vehicle requires a comfortable and silent tire that won’t back down in fast highway driving, the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum is hard to beat.
