Top 10 Best Jeep Patriot Tires: Buying Guide and Review

Not a lot of compact family crossovers today can claim serious off-road performance. Other than the ability to overcome uneven surfaces, modern SUVs and crossovers lack the technology needed for off-roading. Not only they can’t put the power to the ground, but they lack enough wheel articulation. There are few among them that can work for off-roading, and the Jeep Patriot is the first that comes to mind.

The American crossover has an understated, but a decidedly muscular design that attracted many buyers. Jeep managed to make the Patriot drive pretty good on the road as well. Moreover, the models with AWD systems can offer some serious off-road traction, especially for vehicles equipped with additional off-road features. There is one thing that this car lacks from the factory, though, and that’s proper Jeep Patriot tires.

From the factory, the compact family crossover comes with normal touring tires, which are great for driving on the street. These tires provide the driver with safe traction on dry and wet surfaces, comfortable ride over uneven surfaces, low amount of road noise, great fuel economy, and absolutely outstanding treadlife. The only thing they lack is proper traction for off-roading. Still, for most people, they will be far and beyond the best choice.

For drivers that want to explore the wilderness, a set of all-terrain tires is perhaps the best choice. These tires retain usable on-road traction, both over dry and wet surfaces, and they are not too uncomfortable. What they add is usable off-road traction, especially on hardpacked surfaces, but also for mud and rocks. The thing is, not a lot of all-terrain tires come in Jeep Patriot tire size. Still, I found an excellent model and included it in my list below.

When it comes to my list of the best tires for Jeep Patriot, I included models that I deem fit for the owners of that car. All of the products below must be safe in all road conditions – this is a family car, after all. Moreover, the tires should be durable – much more durable than the OEM ones, in fact. I also looked for tires that are reasonably comfortable, especially because the Jeep Patriot isn’t the most refined crossover out there.

Besides, all tires on the list below are available for purchase through online retailers. We always strive to give you the best prices and deals, so look for updates from time to time. Also, each tire is accompanied by a short review and advantages and disadvantages. Look into these data carefully. Not all tires work best for every driver. More aggressive drivers might be prepared to have a louder tire for a better driving experience, and vice-versa.

With that said, let’s jump right onto the matter and find the best Patriot tires right now.

Top 10 Best Tires for Jeep Patriot

1. Goodyear Assurance MaxLife

Best Grand-Touring All-Season Tires for Jeep Patriot

Best Jeep Patriot Tires

Get Up to $240 Back on Goodyear Tires
Valid through March 31, 2023
Available at TireRack.com

The Assurance MaxLife is by far the most durable Patriot tire right now. Goodyear spent most of the development finding ways to improve treadlife, and the 85,000-mile treadwear warranty is a testament to that. Moreover, the tire comes with the Wear Gauge technology, which utilizes numbers to show the driver how much tread depth is left on the tire.

Fortunately, Goodyear didn’t forget about other stuff. The Assurance MaxLife might not be very responsive, but it handles everyday tasks with aplomb. Dry handling and braking are superb, wet traction is excellent, and the hydroplaning resistance is among the best in the category. The Assurance MaxLife also works well over ice, especially for an all-season tire.

Snow traction and braking aren’t as impressive, though, and the Assurance MaxLife isn’t the most comfortable tire out there. Still, I think that it has enough qualities to be a viable option for Jeep Patriot owners.

Pros

  • Very good cornering grip for such a durable tire
  • Easily controllable in wet conditions
  • Excellent wet traction and hydroplaning resistance
  • The longest treadlife in the category
  • Outstandingly long treadwear warranty
  • Good ice traction and braking for an all-season tire

Cons

  • The steering isn’t particularly responsive or direct
  • Uncomfortable over larger bumps
  • Snow braking and handling aren’t its forte

2. Michelin Premier A/S

Best Grand-Touring All-Season Tires for Jeep Patriot

Best jeep patriot tires

New Year Sale @Priority Tire
Valid through January 13, 2023
Available at PriorityTire.com

The Michelin Premier A/S is perhaps the best driver’s all-season grand-touring tire out there. You will immediately feel the responsive nature of the tire behind the steering wheel. Moreover, the Premier A/S will make you Jeep Patriot handle corners better, with a higher level of grip and stronger braking.

Even better, Michelin’s popular tire impresses in the rain. This is one of the best tires I tried on wet surfaces. Handling feels surefooted, there is no hint of hydroplaning, and the braking distances are very short. And, the best thing about the Premier A/S is that it retains its wet traction after it wears down, courtesy of the EverTread Technology.

Like most Michelin tires, the Premier A/S offers a supremely comfortable ride over bumps, and it’s very quiet as well. That said, Michelin only provides a 60,000-mile treadwear warranty on the tire. That’s shorter than most premium competitors and short for the high price Michelin warrants for this tire.

Pros

  • Shortest braking distances on wet and dry surfaces of any grand-touring tire
  • Excellent cornering grip and traction on dry roads
  • Very responsive and direct steering feel
  • Smooth ride and well-suppressed road noise
  • Thanks to EverTread Technology, the tire keeps its wet traction for longer

Cons

  • The treadwear warranty is short“ish” for the price
  • Very expensive

3. General AltiMAX RT43

Best Grand-Touring All-Season Tires for Jeep Patriot

Best jeep patriot tires

New Year Sale @Priority Tire
Valid through January 13, 2023
Available at PriorityTire.com

The General AltiMAX RT43 is one of the most popular budget grand-touring tires among drivers in North America. Overall, the tire might not be on the level of premium models, but it’s close enough. And it costs much less, while also offering excellent treadlife. General even provides a generous 75,000-miles T-rated models, and 65,000-miles for H & V rated models.

On the road, the AltiMAX RT43 masks its price surprisingly well. The tire feels very responsive and provides good steering feel, while also providing the driver with safe grip and traction. It works in the wet, too – the hydroplaning resistance is good, and there is ample traction on offer. General Tire even managed to make the AltiMAX RT43 quiet and comfortable, which will certainly appeal to families.

That said, even though it’s an all-season tire, the AltiMAX RT43 isn’t the best choice for driving on snow or ice.

Pros

  • Excellent responsiveness in dry conditions
  • Very good traction and braking in wet conditions
  • Comfortable over uneven surfaces and very quiet at higher speeds
  • Very good treadlife
  • Excellent treadwear warranty for the price

Cons

  • Not up to the level of premium competitors overall
  • Snow traction far from the best out there

4. Continental TrueContact Tour

Best Touring All-Season Tires for Jeep Patriot

Best jeep patriot tires

New Year Sale @Priority Tire
Valid through January 13, 2023
Available at PriorityTire.com

The TrueContact Tour is the latest edition of the award-winning touring tires from Continental. Naturally, the tire immediately launched itself among the class-leading tires in most categories. The only area where it suffers a bit is snow traction, but even then, it’s not too bad.

More importantly, the TrueContact Tour handles everyday tasks with aplomb. The tire feels very responsive for a touring tire and feels good to drive in the corners. Grip and traction are very good, and the braking distances are sufficiently short.

The TrueContact Tour continues to impress in wet conditions, where it surprises with excellent hydroplaning resistance. It also provides the driver with excellent traction and short braking distances. I was also impressed with how quiet the TrueContact Tour is – road noise is a non-issue here. The ride quality is superb as well.

On top of everything else, Continental provides an 80,000-mile treadwear warranty for T- & H-speed rated, which is one of the best out there. Moreover, the TrueContact Tour isn’t very expensive for a premium tire.

Pros

  • Excellent handling and braking on dry surfaces
  • Feels very safe and planted on wet surfaces
  • Short braking distances in the rain
  • Outstanding ride quality
  • Absence of road noise, even at very high speeds
  • Budget-friendly pricing
  • Drives well over light snow, especially for an all-season touring tire

Cons

  • Ice braking and handling aren’t reliable

5. Michelin Defender T+H

Best Touring All-Season Tires for Jeep Patriot

Best jeep patriot tires

New Year Sale @Priority Tire
Valid through January 13, 2023
Available at PriorityTire.com

The Defender T+H is arguably the best touring all-season tire overall. However, it also costs a lot of money. Actually, it’s more expensive than some grand-touring tires, some of which offer better driving characteristics.

Still, if you are in the market for a high-quality touring all-season tire, few can match the Defender T+H. That’s especially true for its durability, which is better than almost any other tire on the market. The treadlife is simply exceptional, and Michelin provides an 80,000-mile treadwear warranty on all Patriot sizes.

On the road, the Defender T+H feels very responsive and handles corners very well. Wet traction is exceptional as well, and that’s especially true for the braking in rainy conditions. Like most Michelin tires, the ride quality is very smooth, and there is not much noise coming from the road.

Ultimately, the Defender T+H offers some traction on snowy surfaces, but it’s still not a proper replacement for a winter tire.

Pros

  • Very responsive for a touring tire
  • Excellent handling and braking on dry roads
  • Wet traction and braking are among the best in the category
  • Smooth ride quality and almost no road noise
  • Very long treadlife and an excellent 80,000-mile treadwear warranty

Cons

  • Expensive for the category

6. Cooper CS5 Grand Touring

Best Touring All-Season Tires for Jeep Patriot

Best jeep patriot tires

New Year Sale @Priority Tire
Valid through January 13, 2023
Available at PriorityTire.com

Sometimes you don’t need to pay a fortune to have safe tires on your car. Take the Cooper CS5 Grand Touring as an example. The American touring all-season tire works well across many categories. Most importantly, unlike other budget tires, the CS5 Grand Touring is extremely durable. The treadlife is exceptional, and Cooper Tire provides an outstanding 80,000-mile treadwear warranty.

On the road, you certainly won’t be impressed with the feeling behind the steering wheel. Nonetheless, the CS5 Grand Touring has a very good cornering grip for a budget all-season tire, and brakes very well. Rainy weather also doesn’t pose an issue for the tire. The hydroplaning resistance is excellent, and the tires feel secure in heavy rain.

Besides, the comfort levels are excellent as well. The CS5 Grand Touring is supremely quiet on the road and rides well over bumps. That said, the tire isn’t the best choice for severe wintry conditions.

Pros

  • Excellent dry traction and braking
  • Safe traction and good braking in rainy conditions
  • Supremely quiet, even at higher speeds
  • Very smooth ride quality
  • Outstanding 80,000-mile treadwear warranty
  • One of the cheapest good touring tires around

Cons

  • Doesn’t feel responsive behind the steering wheel
  • Snow traction is only average

7. Continental CrossContact LX Sport

Best Specialized SUV Touring Tires for Jeep Patriot (for 4×4 models)

Best jeep patriot tires

New Year Sale @Priority Tire
Valid through January 13, 2023
Available at PriorityTire.com

The CrossContact LX Sport is a lesser-known touring tire, designed for compact crossovers. For that reason, I think that it’s an excellent tire for the Jeep Patriot. That said, this product has one big issue – it doesn’t come with any treadwear warranty. That gives me concerns about the treadlife, and if you care about longevity, you might want to choose another touring tire on this list.

Still, the CrossContact LX Sport impresses in other categories. One of the most amazing qualities of this tire is how quiet it is. Thanks to ContiSilent Technology, this is one of the quietest crossover touring tires out there. The ride quality is very smooth as well. Moreover, Continental even built a flanged lower sidewall in the tire, which protects your rims from those nasty potholes.

In terms of performance, the CrossContact LX Sport performs excellently on dry and wet surfaces, with good braking and handling. The tire is also very responsive and provides the driver with a good feel through the wheel. Even the snow traction is good, especially for an all-season tire.

Pros

  • Outstanding handling and braking on dry roads
  • Excellent wet traction and braking
  • Responsive steering with a very good feel
  • Supremely quiet and comfortable over bumps
  • Good light-snow traction for an all-season tire

Cons

  • Continental doesn’t provide treadwear warranty on this tire
  • Some concerns over treadlife

8. Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail

Best All-Terrain Tires for Jeep Patriot

Best jeep patriot tires

New Year Sale @Priority Tire
Valid through January 13, 2023
Available at PriorityTire.com

If you want to add some off-road traction to your Jeep Patriot, the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail might be an excellent choice. Falken managed to design a tire that works both on the street and on slippery surfaces here.

Nonetheless, the Wildpeak Trail works best on hardpacked surfaces, such as dirt and gravel. It’s better than a touring tire for driving in mud, but still not up to the level of other all-terrain tires. Still, for drivers of the Jeep Patriot, I think it’s more than good enough.

On the road, you won’t lose a lot of traction compared to road tires. The handling on dry and wet surfaces is very good, and the braking distances aren’t very long. The tire is very usable on snow as well, primarily thanks to the more aggressive tread pattern. That said, the same can’t be said for ice traction, despite the 3PMSF (Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake) symbol.

Pros

  • Excellent traction on dirt and gravel
  • Durable and strong casing
  • Good on-road dynamics for an all-terrain tire
  • Very good traction on snow especially unpacked snow
  • Exceptional treadlife and treadwear warranty for an all-terrain tire

Cons

  • Far from the best all-terrain tire for mud and large rocks
  • Not usable for driving on ice, despite the 3PMSF verification

9. Bridgestone Blizzak WS90

Best Winter Tires for Jeep Patriot

Best jeep patriot tires

New Year Sale @Priority Tire!
Valid through January 13, 2023
Available at PriorityTire.com

The Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 is the most accomplished winter tire available on the market right now. Bridgestone managed to design a tire that works consistently over various surfaces, including snow, slush, and ice.

In all tests, the WS90 provides excellent results. Acceleration on snow is excellent, and the braking distances are class-leading. It’s the same with icy surfaces – the Blizzak WS90 beats almost every competitor in traction, handling, and braking.

The tire continues to impress on wet surfaces. The hydroplaning resistance is excellent, which helps in heavy rain and slush. Moreover, the WS90 feels surefooted in rainy conditions and brakes very well. Dry handling and braking are very good as well.

That said, Bridgestone doesn’t provide any treadwear warranty on the tire. The treadlife should be excellent, but for the price, the buyers should get a verification on that.

Pros

  • Exceptional traction and braking on snow
  • Best-in-class acceleration and braking on ice
  • Performs excellently in the rain as well
  • Good handling and braking on dry surfaces
  • Very good treadlife for a winter tire

Cons

  • Bridgestone doesn’t provide any treadwear warranty

10. Continental VikingContact 7

Best Winter Tires for Jeep Patriot

Best jeep patriot tires

New Year Sale @Priority Tire
Valid through January 13, 2023
Available at PriorityTire.com

The Continental VikingContact 7 is easily one of the most accomplished winter tires right now. From its on-road dynamics to performance in severe weather, the tire delivers.

On dry and wet roads, the VikingContact 7 performs just like you would expect from a premium tire. It’s especially good in the corners, where it provides the driver with an excellent grip. It feels good behind the wheel, too, and brakes well. I would’ve liked an improvement in wet braking, though, but it’s still not too bad.

In severe wintry conditions, the VikingContact 7 truly shines. It handles snow like few tires out there, providing the driver with a safe feeling behind the wheel. With a set of these tires, you almost forget when you’re driving on snow.

Moreover, the VikingContact 7 drives amazingly well over ice, where it competes directly with the class-leading Blizzak WS90 in terms of handling and braking.

The only gripe I have with the tire is the added road noise and the fact that Continental doesn’t provide any treadwear warranty. The latter is something that most winter tires lack, though.

Pros

  • Best-in-class handling and traction on snow
  • Handles on snow like the best winter tires
  • Wet traction and handling are on the top of the chain
  • Outstanding ice traction and handling for a non-studded tire
  • Good dry handling and braking

Cons

  • Not the quietest winter tires out there
  • Wet braking could be improved further
  • No treadwear warranty

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Do OEM Patriot tires come with a treadwear warranty?

No, OEM tires don’t come with treadwear warranties. That’s because car dealers don’t work with tires, which means that they won’t be able to replace them for you. Most new tires come with treadwear warranties, though.

  • When should I replace my Jeep Patriot tires?

Tire replacement depends on two factors. The first one is the tread depth. Without sufficient depth, the tires won’t be able to provide the driver with good traction on wet surfaces, and it won’t be able to resist hydroplaning.

The minimum tread depth on all-season tires is 2/32-inch, and it’s 5/32-inch on winter tires. The tires on your Patriot should have tread wear indicators, which can help you monitor the tread depth. More accurately, they become flush with the surface of the tire when the tread is at the minimum.

Even though your tires have sufficient tread depth, though, it doesn’t mean that they are safe. As time goes by, the rubber on the tires becomes harder and loses tons of traction. More importantly, an old tire might explode while driving. For that reason, replace your tires every 4-5 years.

  • What’s the correct tire pressure on the Jeep Patriot?

The required tire pressure on the Jeep Patriot is 35 psi for an unloaded car. However, you might want to check the correct pressure for a loaded car. You can find the information on the driver’s door sill or in the owner’s manual.

  • How often should I rotate my Jeep Patriot tires?

For longevity and safety, you should rotate your tires every 6,000-8,000 miles or every six months. That matches the oil change interval of the Jeep Patriot. Therefore, if you visit an authorized dealer for regular maintenance, they should rotate the tires free of charge. If not, you might want to tell your mechanic or tire technician to do that for you.

Conclusion

I sincerely hope that this article helped you find great tires for your Jeep Patriot. If you still couldn’t find a favorite, at least make sure that you purchase tires from reputable manufacturers. Cheap tires aren’t worth it – they aren’t safe to drive, and don’t last very long.

    • Hi Joyce Roberts,

Considering the fact that you want tires for both on-road and off-road driving, we recommend going for a set of all-terrain tires.

Models that should suit your vehicle are the Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 and Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail, both excellent options. However, you might want to check various tire retailers for other options.

We hope that this answered your question. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to ask us again.

      Kindest regards!
