What’s the last thing to consider when purchasing a new set of tires? If you answered ‘style’ or ‘styling’, you’re right. I mean, does the style of the tires really matter when dressing up your sporty truck or SUV?
As it turns out, yes! The style or the looks of the tire are considered as an important factor in choosing the right set. This also holds true in the tuning scene where cars are supposed to look good and go fast at the same time.

What are the features of the Toyo Proxes S/T?
The most defining and obvious feature of the Toyo Proxes S/T is the directional tread design. Equipped with aggressive double V-shaped grooves, this feature not only enhances look of the tire. It is also designed to resist aquaplaning and hydroplaning by effectively dispersing water from the contact patch.
The Toyo Proxes S/T is constructed using an all-season tread compound. The low-rolling resistance nature of the tire also contributes to a quieter ride and longer tread life. The reinforced carcass is further enhanced for strength and durability.
If you take a closer look at the gorgeous double V-shaped tread design, you will notice the outer shoulder is equipped with widely spaced tread blocks. This allows more of the rubber to remain in contact with the road to improve handling, high-speed stability, and steering feel.
What vehicles are applicable to the Toyo Proxes S/T?
Toyo is offering the Proxes S/T in 20” to 24” diameters. This makes it an excellent choice for custom trucks and SUVs such as the Ford F-Series, Chevy Silverado, Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, and RAM 1500.
The Toyo Proxes S/T is also great for SUVs like the Toyota Highlander, Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Tahoe and Suburban, Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Expedition. You can basically look into the Toyo Proxes S/T is searching for a sportier set of tires for any type of custom truck and SUV.
How does it behave on dry pavement?
The Toyo Proxes S/T is a performance tire and is expected to deliver tons of grip on dry pavement. The tire also contributes to better handling and a more stable ride at higher speeds. You can also expect stronger braking and a more accurate steering feel if your vehicle is fitted with the Toyo Proxes S/T.
How about wet performance?
The Toyo Proxes S/T is an admirable performer on wet roads. The double V-shaped tread design is able to maintain perfect contact with the road despite the presence of rain and water puddles. The all-season tread compound remains pliable in wet or colder temperatures to consistently maintain high levels of grip.
Can it handle snow and ice?
Even though the Toyo Proxes S/T is engineered for all-season driving, it doesn’t offer strong performance in snow and ice. The tire is only good for very light snow and wet pavement. If the roads are covered with two or three inches of snow, the tire can do very little to offer solid traction. If you live in places with heavy snowfall, it is better to upgrade to winter tires or all-terrain rubber.
How about off-road driving?
The directional V-shaped tread design of the Toyo Proxes S/T is primarily designed for the street. This tire is not equipped to handle sharp rocks, loose gravel, and thick mud. In order to unleash the off-road prowess of your SUV or pickup truck, you need a chunkier set of all-terrain or AT tires.
Is it comfortable?
Despite the aggressive and sporting nature, the Toyo Proxes S/T is capable of giving your truck or SUV a more comfortable and refined ride. It’s not as comfortable as a set of touring tires, but the comfort levels of the Proxes S/T are good enough despite the low-profile design. However, you should take care when driving over bumpy or pothole-riddled pavement.
Another great thing with the Toyo Proxes S/T is the quiet ride. It remains whisper-quiet at slow to medium speeds. You will only hear some tire roar as you breach the speed limit. This is still impressive given the sportier nature of the Proxes S/T. But if you have a luxury truck or SUV and demand absolute comfort and silence, you better look elsewhere.

Should I buy the Toyo Proxes S/T?
It depends on what you’re looking for in a new set of truck tires. If you like the look of a tuned and sporty truck, the Toyo Proxes S/T is a solid choice. But if you have a rugged workhorse that travels over a wide variety of terrain on a daily basis, this is not the right set of tires for your vehicle.
In terms of price, the Toyo Proxes S/T will cost more than an ordinary set of truck tires, but you ultimately get what you pay for. This tire not only looks good, but it offers impressive performance and a comfortable ride. If looks and styling are your top priorities, the Toyo Proxes S/t should be on top of your list.
On my third set. 285/55/20. Love the looks, they work good on my Tahoe. Dont like in rain and cold they seem out of balance. After a few miles they warm up and are good. Buying a new set of ST111. Hope they are better.
